Romantic Woodland Place Setting and Party Favor

Place setting: The fanciful theme really takes flight thanks to plates and menu cards adorned with winged creatures. Fern fronds serve as natural placemats.

Favor: A small box of chocolates becomes even sweeter when wrapped in pretty paper and topped off with a flea-market brooch.

>Kim Kardashian is Engaged!

May 25, 2011

After six months of dating, reality star and socialite Kim Kardashian and New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries are engaged.  According to eonline, Kris popped the question last week at Kim’s Beverly Hills home.  Kim entered the room to Kris already on bended knee, with rose petals forming the words, ” Will You Marry Me?”. Kris planned the surprise with help from mom Kris Jenner, who planned a surprise dinner for the family later that evening.  Making a joke of daughter Khloe Kardashian’s engagement, Kris Jenner tweeted this morning:

Kris laced Kim with a custom-designed 20.5-carat Lorrain Schwartz diamond engagement ring! Khloe Kardashian joked on twitter about having to find another name for Kris H. since there can’t be two Kris’ in the family.  No wedding date has been set yet, but I am sure it will one for the record books. We will definitely follow the fabulousness that is to follow….
Congrats guys!

>Monday Inspiration: Favors With Flavors!

May 23, 2011

>I was doing my weekly reading as I sat under the hair dryer at my favorite salon, Changing Faces Salon, and I saw this great article in Martha Stewart Weddings magazine on wedding favors and couldn’t wait to share it with you guys. Think outside the box with these creatively Posh ideas and give your guests a favor that they can actually use.  Check these favors out below:

Thirst Quenching Escort Cards

These triple as an escort card, a thirst quenching beverage on a hot summer day and a keepsake favor (the bottle).  This is a fabulous idea to use for an outside wedding as your guest arrive to the reception.  Martha Stewart used a mint infused iced-tea for this idea, but you can use whatever beverage you like. I would, however, make it non-alcoholic so all participants can share in the fun.  Put an extra twist on this fun idea and create a colorful signature cocktail as your beverage of choice.  These bottles were purchased from Specialty Bottle for about $2.

Rosemary Infused Oil

To create this Italian specialty, place a few snips of herbs in an empty bottle, pour in olive oil, cork, and seal with clip art.

Tools and Supplies:

• Fresh rosemary (1 to 3 sprigs per bottle)
• Olive oil (such as Divina extra-virgin olive oil; buy it in large tins for a more economical purchase)
• Bottle (such as Specialty Bottle 8.5-oz “Boston” glass bottle with cork, $2 each)
• Full-sheet self-adhesive sticker paper
• Craft knife
• Metal ruler

Olive Oil Favor How-To:

1. Assemble favors about 2 weeks before the wedding, so the flavors have time to infuse. Wash rosemary and pat dry; let sit in open air until thoroughly dry. Slip rosemary sprigs into each bottle. Use a funnel to pour in olive oil. Add the cork, and set in a cool place.

2. To label the bottles, download Martha Stewart’s PDF file below, and open it using Adobe Reader (if you are using a Mac computer, please use Reader instead of Apple’s Preview application).

3. Replace the placeholder text on the cork band with your own (you only need to do this in one box; the form will automatically fill in the rest).

4. Print both pages of the Olive Oil Label Clip Art and the Olive Oil Cork-Band Clip Art onto sticker paper. (The cork-band PDF will create 44 strips per sheet; the label PDF will create 21. Print half as many sheets of cork bands as you do labels.)

5. Use a craft knife and a metal ruler to cut between the crop marks (do not cut all the way to the edges of the paper; this will leave the crop marks intact for subsequent cuts).

6. After filling and corking bottles, wash and dry them well. Apply main label to front of bottle, center the cork bands across the cork, and press them down the bottle on both sides.

Cheese and Crackers Midnight Snack

Tools & Supplies:

• 1 1/2-inch self-adhesive round labels
• Clear two-piece box AU-J02 ($158 for 200,
• Mokuba New York 9mm all-stitch satin ribbon #1120, color 25 ($5.75/yd, 212-869-8900)
• Cheddar cheese from your favorite cheese shop
Cheese and Crackers Midnight Snack How-To:

1. Download Martha Stewart’s Cheese and Crackers Labels, and open it using Adobe Reader (if you are using a Mac, please use Reader instead of Apple’s Preview application).

2. Replace the placeholder text with your own (you only need to do this in one box; the form will automatically fill in the rest).

3. Print the file onto sheets of round stickers, and apply them to favors.

Raspberry Infused Vodka

Ingredients: (Makes 1 1/2 liters)
1 pints fresh raspberries
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 bottles (750 ml size) medium-quality vodka

1.Wash raspberries and pat dry; place in a 2-quart nonreactive container with a tight-fitting lid.

2. Add sugar, and toss to combine. Pour in vodka, and close container.

3. Store in a cool, dark place until ready to use (1 to 3 months).

4. Shake every day until the sugar is dissolved. Using a sieve set over a funnel, strain vodka into bottles.

>Posh Graduation Party Ideas – Chic & Stylish Centerpieces

May 19, 2011

>Day 4 of our Graduation Party Series – my favorite thing… Centerpieces!!

Let’s face it – the centerpiece is always the star of the party.  The centerpiece pulls the decor together to make one cohesive look.  Try something chic and stylish instead of your typical party store decor and try your hand at these chic centerpiece ideas. These will turn any party into a work of art!

Simple floral arrangement made with peonies or your favorite flower. These flowers were placed in glass vases and lined symmetrically in the middle of the table.  A simple yet chic place setting laid on opposite sides of the centerpiece and voila!

I love this idea from Colin Cowie.  A large votive candle was placed in the middle grass like centerpiece.  You can use grass or any other craft.

A large cylinder vase can be filled with a variety of creative things and topped with branches to add height and dimension to the table.  A simple table setting with stylish plates and silverware will add flare.

Add pops of color to your table with a stylish table runner, colored cloth napkins.
It doesnt take much to create a POSH look.
